Abstract: This study investigates the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) as a mediator for the development of oral communication skills in languages for specific purposes within technological higher education. The research was motivated by the need to expand opportunities for oral practice in simulated professional contexts, taking into account contemporary changes in media and communicative practices. The purpose of this study is to provide an answer to the following research question: In what ways might the directed usage of ChatGPT Voice support the development of oral communication skills in Spanish and English in the context of Business Management? The objective of the present research is to analyse the impact that GAI has on student learning outcomes in the domain of foreign language instruction within Management Technology higher education programmes. It is grounded in theoretical assumptions regarding intermediality, remediation, and digital technology-mediated orality, as well as in conceptions of communicative competence and mediated learning. Methodologically, this is a qualitative-interpretive study, in which the corpus consists of student interactions, oral recordings, and reflective reports produced after the activity. Data analysis was conducted using categories related to fluency, discursive appropriateness, and mastery of specific vocabulary. The results indicate that AI mediation helps expand lexical repertoire and reduces communicative anxiety, in addition to promoting greater metalinguistic awareness through automated feedback. It is concluded that professional simulation with AI serves as a practice for improving oral communication skills, redefines pedagogical interaction, and expands communicative practice.
