This paper aims to use the (auto)biographical narrative methodology to analyze how an English teacher at FATEC characterizes his teaching practice in the period of returning to face-to-face teaching, after emergency remote teaching (ERT) during the Covid 19 pandemic. Teaching has expanded outside of the educational institutions, expanding interactivity among teachers and students, semiotics begins to give meaning to the various existing languages, considering the practice of several platforms, tools, websites and methodology becoming our English classes more productive with lots of interactivity. The objective was to report what has this professor learned, what are his current challenges and what has changed in his pedagogical practice having lived the experience of remote online teaching. Through his narrative we will be able to understand, how the voice of this professor and his unique experience translate into universal characteristics so that other professors can identify with the presented narrative and resignify their practice.

Game-Based Formative Assessment in the English for Business Discipline in Technological Undergraduate Courses

This article presents an experience report on a pedagogical practice in the discipline of English for business in technological undergraduate courses in two higher education institutions. The main aim was to examine the use of game-based formative assessment to consolidate the learning of grammatical items, vocabulary, and expressions in the business area in English through active methodologies mediated by digital games used both in the classroom and remotely. Formative assessment, both in-person and remote, was based on various activities such as board games; quizzes; memory games; matching games; word searches, and crosswords. The game-based formative assessment proved to be effective and positive according to the evidence collected in the classroom during and after the game practice in the English for business disciplines of the courses under investigation in this research.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION BETWEEN BRAZIL AND CHINA

Abstract: This paper aims to discuss and analyze a pedagogical experience in which Brazilian students and professors interact with Chinese students and professor during a virtual exchange for learning English as a foreign language, part a of project called PCI, held in state colleges of São Paulo in partnership with a Chinese university. The structure and purpose of the project are detailed to demonstrate how students interact learning English via texting apps, as well as cultural aspects are discussed comparing the differences existing in both countries. Concepts such as telecollaboration and m-learning give the basis for the theoretical approach present in this project.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PLURAL APPROACHES IN THE TEACHING OF SPANISH TO BRAZILIAN STUDENTS.

Abstract: Even with legislation that wants to homogenize and make believe that we are a monolingual country, we teachers cannot close our eyes to what is happening and teach future teachers to develop multilingual competence in students through the plural approaches, breaking with the paradigm of the ideal native speaker as well as mastering a language in its entirety. Thus, this article aims to present and discuss the importance of plural approaches (CUMMINS, 1979, 1983; DOLZ, GAGNON and MOSQUERA, 2009; SIMARD, 1997; CANDELIER, 2007; DEGACHE, 2006; CAROLA and ALBUQUERQUE COSTA, 2014) to the teaching Spanish as an additional language.

This document reports on a didactic experience that utilizes Connectivism and Active Methodologies in the process of learning Spanish and self-regulation. The objective is to identify how students perceive the construction of their knowledge through the use of gamification. The investigation is based on learning theories for the digital age, such as personalization and the integration of technology in education. The study involves the creation of games using the Quizizz interactive platform. Data analysis indicates that since the introduction of games, students have developed their digital literacy and autonomy in technology while also seeking organizational routes for knowledge. The results of this investigation confirm that we are in an era of collective intelligence, where students transition from being mere spectators to potential protagonists.

TEACHER EDUCATION IN EFL: KNOWLEDGE FROM A COLLABORATIVE GROUP OF WORK

This article considers teachers as producers of knowledge, which derives not only from their practical experience but also from a critical reflection upon it. A group of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) professors from a public state university in São Paulo-Brazil, gathered together for eight months and formed a collaborative group of study, from which a professional landscape of knowledge was created. Of special interest to this study are the contributions concerning the role and identity of the discipline taught (English). In terms of methodology, the study resorts to narrative inquiry by making use of the professors´ collective narratives and individual ones (life histories). The rounding off includes some reflections on the ability of producing knowledge collaboratively and its influence on teachers´education.

WEBQUEST COMO UMA FERRAMENTA PBL DENTRO DE UM EXPERIÊNCIA COIL

This paper presents a successful online experience recently taken place in a PCI (Collaborative Internacional Project), among 25 students from Yerevan State University, in Armenia, and 37 Brazilian students from 8 different Fatecs, fasilitated by Brazilian and Armenian professors. Armenian students acted like tutors to the Brazilian ones and, together, they found possible solutions for the challenge presented in the form of a WebQuest. PBL (Problem Based Learning) is the basis for the conduction of the work with WebQuests, tools of which were conceived inside Centro Paula Souza, as a research line in RJI (Integral Regime Journey) during the year of 2022, by students from Informatics and Agribusiness Courses at Fatec Rio Preto. This PCI was coordinated by Profs. Anoush Ayunts and Edilene Gasparini Fernandes.

COMPUTER MEDIATED COMMUNICATION AND IMPROVEMENT IN THE WRITTEN ABILITY

This is a discussion about ESP English for Specific Purpose. It discusses the use of written communication through internet, in English as a foreign language, and the results in improving linguistic accuracy in the target language. The debate is about the results of a research conducted in UNICAMP – Universidade Estadual de Campinas, in which a Brazilian cartoonist with low proficiency level language presented and discussed his work with native speakers of English. His intention was making them understand his cartoons and getting a translation for them. The texts resulted from this interaction were analised here in terms of improvement in linguistic accuracy.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF COLLABORATIVE WRITING IN TEACHING PORTUGUESE AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN CHINA: A BRIEF LITERATURE REVIEW

Tendo obtido um desenvolvimento notável na China nos últimos anos, o ensino de Português Língua Estrangeira (PLE) está a enfrentar alguns problemas na prática resultantes da estratégia didática tradicional centrada no docente e baseada na memorização e repetição, limites do professor não nativo e manuais com conteúdo cultural simplificado. De acordo com os estudos no campo, consideramos que a escrita colaborativa poderá ser uma possibilidade para promover o ensino de PLE junto dos estudantes chineses, uma vez que esta estratégia didática pode ajudar a transferir o foco para os estudantes, reproduzir o processo social e abordagem comunicativa de aprendizagem de línguas e criar uma consciência intercultural. Contudo, a sua aplicação numa situação real ainda precisará de ser estudada e avaliada, sobretudo tomando em consideração as questões de injustiça de contribuição e ausência de envolvimento que podem existir.

Este texto tiene como objetivo comprender los sentidos y los sujetos proyectados a través de los medios de información en el espacio discursivo de Palmas, TO. El corpus seleccionado corresponde a dos noticias que representan una mínima fracción de las redes de enunciados sobre las ciudades. La primera es discursivizada el 5 de octubre de 2016 por el Portal Infraero con el titular "El Aeropuerto de Palmas cumple 15 años de funcionamiento", la segunda es transmitida por el portal de noticias O Coletivo, con el artículo titulado "Transporte Coletivo: Estación Apinajé gana ventanilla con baño para empleados y conductores", publicado el 23 de noviembre de 2012.

Gamification in Education

This article presents a Reading Workshop Project, carried out in Portuguese Language classes. A work carried out by students of the 2nd semester of the Systems Analysis and Development Course at the Faculty of Technology of Sorocaba was chosen. The choice of these students is due to the fact that carrying out the work refers to a theme related to the area of the chosen course, as well as this group having completed the steps established for the development of the project. It is a proposal for humanizing education, based on an emancipatory and libertarian vision, in which the subjects involved understand that they can engage in the process of learning their mother tongue. Thus, the article presents 3 sections. Section 1, the presentation of the theme and the historical context. Section 2 focuses on some current examples of learning in pandemic times. Section 3, the results of the Reading Workshop carried out by the students.

Solicitations in Spanish language for communication of Brazilian secretarial professionals

The current study presents the results of the research about the forms of solicitation in Spanish language and its influence in the communication of Brazilian Secretarial Professionals. Our objective was to verify the aspects of politeness, more specifically in the forms of making solicitations, therefore note the existent forms and how those are used. For this, we conducted a bibliographic research based on concepts of Pragmatics. The data obtained in the study showed that the forms of making solicitations are used in a cultural and strategic form in communication.
